The court may award to either spouse the right of occupancy of the homestead, exclusive or non-exclusive, after a final decree of dissolution or legal separation or proper modification of it, for a period of time determined by the court. An award of the right of occupancy of the homestead, whether exclusive or otherwise, may be in addition to any maximum amounts otherwise awarded.
An exclusive award of use of the homestead means that the other spouse may not also use the homestead. Non-exclusive use means that the other spouse may use the homestead.
